Azure cost optimisation

Find wasted cloud spending. Leave with a practical reduction plan.

A focused, independent review of recent Azure usage and costs, designed to identify achievable savings without weakening security, resilience or delivery.

What we review

Cost drivers across the Azure estate

The review normally uses 60–90 days of available billing and utilisation data.

  • Unused and oversized compute resources
  • Wasteful storage tiers, snapshots and disks
  • Excessive logging and data-retention costs
  • Reservation and savings-plan coverage
  • Unnecessary public IPs, gateways and networking costs
  • Idle development and test environments
  • Licensing and Azure Hybrid Benefit opportunities
  • Budgets, tagging and anomaly-alerting gaps

Scope: prices are indicative and assume suitable read-only access and usable billing data. Complex multi-tenant estates, remediation, expenses, third-party charges and VAT treatment are confirmed in writing before work starts.
How it works

From billing data to controlled action

Analyse

Review cost, utilisation, commitments, licensing and governance signals.

Prioritise

Present evidence, estimated savings and a sequenced implementation plan.

Important: savings estimates depend on workload behaviour, commercial terms and implementation choices. Microsoft recommendations and audit findings do not guarantee a particular saving.
What we typically find

Understand where your Azure budget is going

Recommendations need to reflect how your services actually run. We examine cost and usage alongside reliability, security and delivery requirements.

Capacity that no longer matches demand

Compute and database capacity can remain at its original size long after workload demand changes. We review utilisation patterns and operational constraints to identify candidates for right-sizing, scheduling or further investigation. Changes are assessed with service owners before implementation.

Small costs accumulating across the estate

Detached disks, old snapshots, retained logs and unused resources can become significant when repeated across subscriptions. We identify the resource, its purpose and owner, and the dependencies that need checking before anything is removed or retention is reduced.

Commitments and governance that need review

Reservations, savings plans and licensing choices should follow a credible usage baseline. We review existing coverage and foreseeable workload changes, together with tagging, budgets and ownership, so a lower unit price does not become an unsuitable long-term commitment.

Why commission an audit if you already use Azure Advisor? Platform recommendations are a useful starting point. This review connects those signals to your business constraints, service dependencies and delivery capacity, and turns validated opportunities into a prioritised action plan.
Who it is for

A practical review for organisations with a meaningful Azure estate

The audit suits organisations that want an independent explanation of their spending and a clear route to improvement. Scope is agreed around subscriptions, complexity and the quality of available billing data.

When an audit can help

  • Your Azure bill is growing faster than expected.
  • A migration or expansion has left resources and costs difficult to explain.
  • Development and test environments run without clear schedules or ownership.
  • Your team needs to review commitment purchases before renewal.
  • Leadership needs a prioritised savings plan with risks and responsibilities made clear.

Published audit fees start at £995. The spending bands above guide scoping; the final fee and delivery dates are confirmed in writing.

Fife, Scotland. UK, Ireland and international delivery.

We work remotely with teams across the UK and Ireland and with international organisations, including the US East Coast. UK afternoons provide a practical overlap with US East Coast mornings for workshops and review meetings.

Prices shown are in GBP. Where an engagement requires EUR or USD billing, currency and payment terms are agreed in the proposal. Access arrangements, time zones and stakeholder availability are confirmed before work starts.

Frequently asked questions

What to expect from the audit

What access do you need?

We agree the minimum read-only access or billing exports needed for the scope. Billing history, resource information and utilisation data help establish the baseline. Access is arranged through your approved process; no production changes are required to begin the review.

How long does it take?

The delivery timetable is agreed during scoping and depends on the number of subscriptions, data availability and stakeholder access. The proposal sets out the review stages and the date for the findings discussion.

How much will we save?

There is no guaranteed saving or payback period. Each opportunity is assessed against your usage, commercial terms and service requirements. Estimates, assumptions, implementation effort and risks are presented clearly so you can decide which changes to approve.

Will you implement the recommendations?

The audit produces findings and a prioritised plan. Remediation and post-change verification can be scoped separately, with agreed owners, change approvals and validation steps.

Does the audit include AWS or Microsoft 365?

This engagement focuses on Azure consumption. If your requirement includes AWS or Microsoft 365, raise it during scoping so the appropriate separate work can be agreed.

What happens after the review?

We discuss the findings with your stakeholders and provide a practical 30, 60 and 90-day plan. Your team can take the recommendations forward, or agree further engineering support. Savings should be checked against the agreed baseline after approved changes are made.
